“Ten tracks of authentic Melodic Epic Metal/Hard Rock”

Interview by Hombre Rancio

Hello Friends, Today I have the pleasure to talk to Pleonexia, a Heavy Metal Band from Italy.  ¿Do you like metal Underground?, Pleonexia is your Band.

Hi guys, let’s talk a little about the beginnings of the band. How was Pleonexia created?.

Hi, thank you for having us. Pleonexia was born from the one man band Da Pila. I released an ep called Pleonexia that had really good reviews, so I decided to find some guys to create a real band. After several line up changes, I was lucky enough to find some really good friends to share this adventure.

Break all Chains is your first album. what are we going to find in it?.

Ten tracks of authentic Melodic Epic Metal/Hard Rock. You may like it or not, but it’s sincerely inspired music. It’s been a home production, so the sound is raw, but after working on it, in the end we really liked it.

How was the design and creation process of the album?.

I (Michele Da Pila) wrote the music and the lyrics. Ideas come out easily, but then there’s a lot of work to produce it. Before recording we play a lot in order to adjust the song to every musician style, live after live.

In your opinion, which are the stronger points of the band?.

I guess catchy melodies is our strongest point. I think we’ve found our good way to merge heavy music with melody. Then, we’re amazingly beautiful guys.

What are your musical influences?.

Too many to mention them… but I guess that 80’s metal left the most important mark on our songwriting.

My Favourite Song is Iron Will , what is yours?.

Every band member has a different one… Maybe Pleonexia is our indispensable song.

What themes do you touch in your lyrics?.

We define our music «philosophical metal» because lyrics regard philosophical themes. Philosophy literally means “love for knowledge”, and that is what we preach in our songs: use your reason to solve your problems and try to overtake your limits.

How do you see the current scene of the Heavy metal in your country?.

Unfortunately not so good. There’s a lot of good bands, but there’s a lack of good agencies, labels and places to play. Too many people interested only in the economic side of music, too few people that can and want to support good music.

Its a big surprise the sound of Pleonexia. I Like very much the Chorus.  Its sounds fresh and original.  What do you think?.

Thank you! We don’t want to sound pretentious, but obviosly we really like what we’ve done. We like the chorus too, expecially when, during live shows, people sing with us. The advantage of catchy chorus is that even people that don’t know the songs can get it easily while we’re playing and enjoy the show. That allows us to have really great live experiences even though we’re an underground band.

When I listen Pleonexia I think in Blue öyster Cult, Occult nwobhm metal…. I think in the shock rock,  Death SS for example, and I think in italian melodic  powerfull bands: Vanadium, Strana Oficcina, Sabotage…. The sound of the guitars, the songs of Pleonexia are very Underground. Tell me about this.

I have to admit, with a little shame, that we’re started to listen to italian bands like Vanadium and Strana Officina only after people started to compare us to them. Stefan from Pure Steel Records, when he heard the album from the first time, wrote me about the track I don’t care: «This is one of the best catchy songs I’ve ever listened to in italian Heavy Metal history since times of the classic VANADIUM 1989 album Seventheaven». I realized that although I’ve always known the name Vanadium, I’ve never heard a thing from them.

How can the fan get your album?.

The easiest and cheapest way is from our label site:

http://www.puresteel-shop.com/PLEONEXIA-Break-All-Chains_2

You can choose between a physical cd and a digital download. I know that a pirate copy can be easily downloaded, but this kind of project really needs an economical support to survive, so be good…

What are your future plans?.

We’re working on our second album, that hopefully will be released next spring. Then, of course, a lot of live shows.

Thank you very much and congratulations for your great work. If you wish to add something, go ahead…

Thank you and all the readers! Thanks for the time you gave us.

Hope we can meet at one of our shows! Stay metal!
